British rcord holder in the 200m & 400m freestyle, Caitlin is one of Great Britain's greatest medal prospects for the Beijing Olympic Games in 2008 and London 2012.SPORT BIOIn her early teens Caitlin swam and ran at county level, but she opted for the pool when she grew to dislike 'running up hills in the cold'. She was recruited to the Scottish Youth Team, then the British Team at a very young age.Caitlin is currently a year into a degree in Politics at Loughborough University, with Geography and Social Pyschology as minor subjects. In addition to classes and studying she's in the pool between 7.30am and 10.30am follwing up with an hour of weights, then its back into water for another three hour session in the late afternoon or early evening. The McClatchey genes certainly possess a powerful kick. Both of Caitlin's parents competed in the pool for Scotland. In 2004 at 18 years of age Caitlin thought she was going to spend her summer recovering from the stress of her A-Levels until an inspired swim in the 200m freestyle final at the British trials catapulted her into the reckoning to represent Team GB at the Athens Olympic Games in the 4x200m relay. The team put in an excellent performance to come 5th.Then Caitlin followed in her parents footsteps when she was selected to represent Scotland at this year's Commonwealth Games in Melbourne where she won Gold in both the 200m and 400m freestyle.Caitlin is one of the most exciting athletes likely to represent Team GB in Beijing in 2008 and she will certainly be one of the most high profile.
