SPORTS BIO
Lee’s amazing rise up the 400m ranks was rewarded with a place on the British 4x 400m quartet at the 2001 World Championships in Edmonton, Canada where she ran a strong first leg helping the team to a credible 5th place. Straight off the back of this she had her first taste of a senior British competition at the world student games in Beijing, China where she ran a strong race to finish 6th with a personal best of 52.05 and ran a crucial last leg in the 4x400m relay to bring home a Silver medal.
In 2002 Lee enjoyed one of the most successful, if not unexpected, seasons for any British sportswoman. She shone at the Commonwealth Games in Manchester with a strong and brave final to earn a Silver medal and followed this up incredibly with a Bronze in the European Championships in Munich. The year also saw her break her own Scottish native record and run a personal best of 50.82 at the World Cup in Madrid.
Lee's performance in the 2003 World Athletics Championships in Paris certainly hinted at her potential where, finishing 6th in the final, she confirmed her position as a future contender for World and Olympic honours in th one lap event. At the Olympics in Athens her ability was reflected with her excellent home leg taking the British team into 4th place.
2005 brought new challenges for Lee as she made the change from running the flat to hurdling - a transition that she had not found easy but is determined to crack.
