Despite battling injury over his career, Tim has comeback stronger and is more determined than ever to be the number one athlete in Britain over 400 metres.
SPORT BIOTim became the inaugural world youth champion for 200m in Bydgoszcz in 1999 where he improved his personal best in both semis and final winning with a time of 20.98. He continued to get faster as he ran a wind-assisted 20.60 for the silver medal in the European Junior Championships where he also came away with relay gold. His form earned selection for the relays at the World Championships in Edmonton and he ended 2001 as the fastest junior in Europe. Initially excelling at the shorter sprints, Tim has made a smooth and successful transition from 200m to 400m
In 2002, Tim won the Welsh Championships and finished third in the Commonwealth Games trials only to be disqualified for running out of his lane. However he put that disappointment behind him with a Gold as part of the British 4x400 team at the European Cup and then secured his first senior AAA title. Tim’s success continued as he helped Wales to secure silver in the 4x400 at the Commonwealth Games in Manchester in 2002. His first appearance of 2003 was at the World Indoors where he helped Britain take bronze. He established himself as Britain's top 400m runner in 2004, winning the European Cup ,the AAA title and claiming third at the London Grand Prix before making the Olympic semi-final.
Tim, 24, was the only British male to reach an individual track final at the World Championships in 2005 when he finished fifth in Helsinki and repeatedly lowered his personal best time over the summer. By the time he set his personal best at the World Athletics Final in Monaco at the start of September, Tim had twice claimed the scalp of Olympic and world champion Jeremy Wariner and had established himself as a world-class athlete.Injury prevented Tim from taking part in the Commonwealth Games in Melbourne 2006 but at the European Championships he overcame an 8 metre deficit to win Britain a silver medal in the 4 x 400m
