Smith was still a junior when he had competed at the previous Olympics in Barcelona where he finished in 12th. During the intervening years he won a bronze medal at the 1993 World Championships, and silver medals at both the European Championships and Commonwealth Games in 1994.The only major medal he was missing was one from the Olympics, a situation which he rectified at Atlanta when he came away with a bronze medal. Steve captained Britain's most successful ever team to compete in a European Championships and has held the British High Jump Record for over 12 years at 2.37m.SPECIALIST AREASSteve Smith's career was cut short due to injury in 1999, but he has gone on to be a successful Restaurateur and a broadcaster for Sky, Channel 4 and BBC, using the techniques that brought him success as an athlete.Realising that the tools he used as a sportsman were easliy transferable into the world of business he developed 'The Five Principles of Success' to share with others and ultimately formed Raise the Bar Ltd.Steve delivers keynote presentations and seminars for a wide variety of clients, always delivering his programmes with passion, enthusiasm and emotion.
