Andy Hodge is widely perceived as a unique power with an unstoppable emerging talent, he is extremely charismatic, determined and focused and is regarded to hold the necessary traits of a true Olympic championSPORT BIOWhile at university Andy started rowing simply to improve his fitness and to try out a competitive individual sport. His natural rowing talent quickly became apparent, so much so, that he decided to train full-time after graduating from university.Despite still being a 'rowing rookie', a hard winter training schedule in 2000 resulted in staggering progress and Andy's suprise selection for the 2001 U23 Great Britain Team. His rise through the rowing ranks continued at speed. and in 2002 he attained his first senior GB vest when he was selected in the eights in the World Championships. His continued improvement was evident when as part of the eight at the 2003 World Championships he helped Britain win a bronze medal.In 2004 he made his debut at the Olympics as part of the eight. The Olympic experience, which saw the crew finish in 9th place, proved invaluable and fuelled Andy's hunger.2005 proved to be a sensational year for Andy. He stroked the winning Oxford Blue Boat at the 151st University Boat Race and this was followed with a succesful defence of his Men's Pairs title at the GB Trials. Andy then won gold in the new 'awesome foursome' at the Eton World Cup and a further two World Cup golds in Munich and Lucerne. The sensational season was capped by taking gold at the World Championships in Japan in September.Andy made it a hat-trick of GB senior Rowing Titles in 2006 when he defended his men's title for the second year running at the World Cup events.The climax of 2006 saw Andy's coxless four crew defend their World Rowing Championship title at Eton in August.SPECIALIST AREASAlthough relatively new to the commercial world, Andy has already gained a considerable amount of experience in a variety of different commercial activities.Andy spoke at the All Parliamentary Group dinner about the importance of volunteering at the 2012 Olympics from an athletes perspective and has done personal appearances for Camelot, JP Fruits, Bolle sunglassses and the learn to row initiative.He is very media friendly and has done feature articles for The Times and Sunday Times. He has also done some modelling for Camelot, Solid Clothing and the britisholympians.com website.
